Megan Ronquillo is an artist who works well across multiple types of mediums, although she mainly sticks to drawing, painting, and printmaking. Her attention to composition, detail, and expression allow her to create vibrant energetic works of art that show off her sense of humor, personal thoughts, and her feelings about life and the people around her.
She is based in Durango, Colorado and graduated from Fort Lewis College in May of 2025 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Art and a Museum Management Certificate. Before coming back to college, she completed an artist residency program in Ireland through Cow House Studios, and is eager to do more in the future. She has shown work in Fort Lewis’s gallery on multiple occasions and had work published in several different local art magazines. This, however, is her first gallery showing out of the college world (very exciting)! While in college, she was awarded multiple art scholarships and received grant money for her senior capstone project. As a student, she was heavily involved with IMAGES Magazine, Fort Lewis’ Journal of Creative Work. She worked as a Design Team Member, and eventually moved on to being the Design Lead. She also completed an internship at the Durango Arts Center in the summer of 2024, primarily assisting with marketing.
Now that she has graduated, she has a “big girl job” working as the Assistant Business Manager, at the Rocket Pointe apartments in Durango. The job itself is not inherently artistic, but she makes sure to find ways to be creative while at work. In her personal life, she consistently hosts art nights at her home with her friends, and has been able to make a little art studio in her garage. As a young working professional, creating time to make art on her own and with others, while trying to maintain community is a valuable aspect of her practice, and she looks forward to seeing where art and life takes her in the future.
